We are looking for a detail-oriented fraud investigations specialist to support risk management efforts for a long-term contract opportunity in Glen Allen, Virginia. This position focuses on reviewing suspected fraudulent activity, protecting customer accounts and organizational assets, and ensuring cases are documented in line with legal and regulatory expectations. The role suits someone who can work independently, apply sound judgment, and communicate findings clearly while collaborating with internal partners and external authorities when needed.

Responsibilities:
• Conduct reviews of suspected fraud involving customer accounts, vendors, third parties, or internal personnel, and determine appropriate next steps based on findings.
• Monitor fraud-related activity and analyze available information to identify unusual patterns, potential losses, and areas requiring further investigation.
• Maintain complete and accurate case files, ensuring evidence, notes, and supporting documentation meet legal, regulatory, and internal standards.
• Partner with law enforcement and other authorized external parties to gather information, prepare reports, and support investigative proceedings when required.
• Recommend and apply fraud prevention and detection approaches that strengthen controls and reduce exposure across the organization.
• Support anti-money laundering and broader fraud risk efforts by following established policies, procedures, and investigative practices.
• Prepare clear summaries of investigative outcomes, present facts objectively, and explain conclusions to stakeholders within the business.
• Contribute to quality-focused case handling by following case management expectations and escalating issues that require additional review or guidance.• Bachelor’s degree required; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in fraud investigations, fraud risk management, compliance, AML, or a closely related field.
• Working knowledge of case management practices, evidence handling, and documentation standards tied to legal requirements.
• Ability to investigate suspected fraud thoroughly, assess facts, and make sound decisions with limited day-to-day supervision.
• Experience preparing reports and communicating findings clearly to internal stakeholders and external agencies when appropriate.
• Familiarity with policies, monitoring tools, and investigative procedures used to detect and address suspicious activity.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage difficult but generally non-complex issues effectively.
